The Company
Pat Wyman M.A. is the founder of HowToLearn.com and author of the Instant Learning™ Book Series, Learning vs. Testing, and What's Food Got To Do With It? 101 Natural Remedies for Learning Disabilities. Ms. Wyman is also an Instructor of Education at California State University, Hayward, Continuing Education Division, and has served as an adjunct professor at several colleges and universities. Why VMT
With a sizeable online newsletter list, HowToLearn.com realized that delivery rates were important to both subscribers and to building an online business. With a business so focused on branding, Ms. Wyman was searching for a way to add to her current marketing portfolio. VMT was the perfect fit for her business' needs.

"Getting your emails and newsletters through to your clients is harder than ever," Pat explains, "we needed something we could count on to benefit our subscribers and clients and guarantee that our learning tips would get delivered on a weekly basis."

The Method
Ms. Wyman got the word out about her new VMT version by mentioning it in her newsletter and creating a banner for the program on the front page of HowToLearn.com.

Using the statistics provided by VMT, Ms. Wyman found that her launch of VMT was very successful.

"We like to track everything at HowToLearn.com," Ms. Wyman states, "since there is a comprehensive statistics program built into VMT, we were able to measure absolutely everything."

There were three major marketing challenges that HowToLearn.com needed to improve upon. The goals were to stay in touch with their clients and subscribers 24/7, exponentially grow their subscriber list by increasing traffic to HowToLearn.com, and expand the business by increasing sales and profit.

"Using VMT we accomplished all of this at once, simply by giving it away. We knew what our subscribers wanted most. We used VMT to quickly and easily create 52 Instant Learning™ Tips, and then we just gave them away!"

The Results
Ms. Wyman describes her results, "In the first 20 minutes, we had over 200 downloads of our Instant Learning™ tips. In the first three weeks we had over 3,000 people download the tips."

The download statistics didn't stop there. There are a series of 52 Instant Learning™ tips provided by Ms. Wyman's version of VMT. Breaking down the statistics on a per-exposure basis gave way to an impressive realization, "If my math is correct, this means we are able to stay in front of our target market 156,000 times during the next year alone." Additionally, that repeat exposure is effortless. Since the messages have already been created and downloaded, there's no extra work involved other than continuing to distribute VMT.

With 52 exposures per person per download, the exponential rate of exposure offers possibilities that online newsletters and conventional offline marketing simply cannot.

Having overcome the obstacle of staying in front of her target market, Ms. Wyman directed her attention to solving another marketing puzzle: traffic. "Our website traffic increased more than 20% in the first few weeks after releasing VMT," she continues, "we also found that our Alexa ranking jumped approximately 80,000 points during this period of time."

While the number of people being drawn to HowToLearn.com to download the Instant Learning™ Tips was impressive, Ms. Wyman also notes a pleasant effect of these downloads, "We received so many thank you letters from our subscribers that we're actually still counting them."

The final benefit that VMT provided for HowToLearn.com was a substantial increase in sales revenue. Offering substantive content that included links to more descriptive pages, everything was in place. Subscribers continue to receive the content they need, and can choose whether to click for further information on helping their children learn more specific "Instant Learning™" strategies.

The statistics were right there, "Our sales tripled for a $190 product that appeared within the first few messages," she states, "Our results speak for themselves."

Finally came the task of distributing the CD version of VMT. Ms. Wyman's plan was to use the CDs to generate interest at a convention she would be attending during the summer of 2004. "One of the best parts of VMT are the custom CDs that come with the program," she recalls, "we had such an amazing response to the CDs that we had to place two additional orders."

Ms. Wyman generated interest in the CDs at the convention by briefly explaining them, and giving the CDs away as business cards at the 'Book Expo America' conference in Chicago. "People were so impressed that I quickly ran out and my only regret was that I did not have a few hundred extra on hand. I literally ran out of my CDs in about 10 minutes," she explained, "However, people requested that I send them copies when I returned home so VMT provided yet another way to create more good will and build additional business relationships."
